Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP)
Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP therapy) is a type of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and an effective treatment for OCD. With ERP, you’re exposing yourself to the images, objects, and thoughts that fuel anxiety and obsession, and then responding by making a deliberate choice not to act on the compulsive behavior once it’s been “triggered”. Parent Management Training (PMT)
Parent Management Training (PMT) is a type of behaviorally-based treatment that utilizes specific strategies to help parents to learn to positively shape their children’s behaviors, promote compliance, and encourage growth. Providers will discuss appropriate parental responses, using rewards and consequences in an effective manner, managing outbursts and tantrum behaviors, and parenting from a positive, logical framework. Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
In Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), you’ll work to access new ways to connect with yourself. Emotions can get the best of us in almost any circumstance, but with EFT, we’ll help you identify, understand, and manage your emotions so that you can develop healthy connections with others. EFT is also an effective tool to help you identify and confront your anxiety, depression, or other feelings that are causing significant challenges in your life.
For EFT to be effective, our providers will collaborate with you to embrace the feelings, memories, thoughts, and triggers that are causing you pain, help you transform those emotions into something you can live with, and encourage you to live your life the way you intended it to be. EFT has years of empirical data that speaks to the effectiveness of this treatment. It is typically a short-term treatment, but you can discuss that more when you meet with your counselor.
