ELIZABETH MCAFEE, LPCA

Elizabeth McAfee received her Master of Education and Education Specialist degrees in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University. Elizabeth gained clinical experience in graduate school, working at Carolina Center for Behavioral Health on the senior adult unit, facilitating group therapy sessions. Elizabeth was accepted into the John H. Magill School Mental Health Certificate Program, a school-based internship program. Through the internship program, she gained clinical experience working with students in highschool presenting with a variety of emotional and behavioral concerns.

After graduation, Elizabeth worked as a school-based clinician for Greenville Mental Health, providing individual and family therapy services to students at Greenville High School, working with a variety of mental health struggles. She also obtained training in trauma treatment, using methods such as trauma-focused CBT.

Prior to graduate school, Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Clemson University. She was a teacher for six years, a role that allowed her to gain first-hand experience with students, their families, teachers, and other school professionals.

Elizabeth is passionate about working with families, teens, and adults, regarding issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, navigating life transitions, and improving self-esteem. She also works with individuals struggling with relationship issues and family conflict. Through her time working in schools, both as a teacher and a clinician, Elizabeth gained empathy and understanding for teachers and other school professionals working under stress. She enjoys collaborating with clients to work toward a fulfilling life balance and stress reduction. Elizabeth seeks to create a space for clients to feel accepted, empowered, and to find the best version of themselves.

In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys hot yoga, being on the lake, reading, and spending time with friends, family, and her rescue dog, Bennie.
