
CAITLIN MCLEAR, PH.D.
Dr. McLear, a native of Greenville, completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in child clinical health psychology from Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to her doctoral training, she completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at Furman University. During her time at WSU, Dr. McLear trained in rotations at a children’s community mental health center, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and a community clinic. She was also involved in research investigating factors impacting self-regulation in children. Dr. McLear was awarded a research assistantship focused on identifying barriers to adherence to diabetes management regimes in young adults with Type 1 Diabetes. She has also conducted research on resilience, identifying factors that protect children and adolescents exposed to adverse life events. Following her doctoral training, Dr. McLear completed a clinical internship at The Virginia Treatment Center for Children, which is part of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, in Richmond. During this training, Dr. McLear was involved in clinical rotations on an acute inpatient unit, a consultation-liaison service, assessment, and outpatient treatment, working with children, adolescents, and their families.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, waterskiing, and exploring new restaurants.
